Fingernail’s work tray
Function and emotion: an object-sculpture.
A new collaboration enriches the line of objects designed by artists, whose precedents go back to the experiments related to the “Alessi d’après” project of the early 1970s. Sandro Chia, an internationally known Italian painter and sculptor, has modeled for Alessi “Fingernail’s work,” a Tray whose shapes express the figurative language of this author’s work.
The project was developed from a plasticine prototype shaped by Chia using fingers and nails: a circular Piana surface enclosed by a plastic border in which human faces, a typical element of the artist’s language, can be glimpsed. The edge is slightly raised so as to allow a comfortable grip on the Tray. An object-sculpture that encapsulates the functionality of a product and the emotional value of a work of art.
“Fingernail’s work,” produced by cold moulding, is made of 18/10 Stainless Steel with a polished finish. New.
